Event Information

Title: Additive Composites

Description:

Additive manufacturing is becoming increasingly important. From a perspective of additive production, the boundaries between established composite manufacturing and new additive manufacturing are blurring. For instance, new additive manufacturing approaches for the integration of continuous fibers almost meet the process conditions of thermoplastic automated fiber placement. By merging classical composite manufacturing with additive manufacturing, new solutions and technologies are feasible. At the Chair of Carbon Composites at TU Munich, technologies such as automated fiber placement are combined with extrusion-based additive
manufacturing. In various projects the materials, the manufacturing technologies as well as the application areas are being researched. In the context of advancing digitalization, the goal is the development of new, shorter and smarter supply chains to meet future requirements. An overview of the activities provides recent and upcoming research work with the vision of additive composites.
